Linear Woods

Once again I see these hedge-rows, hardly hedge-rows, little lines of sportive wood run wild.
William Wordsworth, from Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey, on Revisiting the Banks of the Wye during a Tour.  July 13, 1798.

Hedge-rows and avenues of trees provide habitat, refuge and food for animals.  Often, they provide food for humans too - but in our sanitised world, many people are reluctant to eat wild blackberries.  Linear woods beautify landscapes that would otherwise be homogenised by human activity.

Here are some examples.
